The ECOS 5 connects to the host RISC OS system using an internal network link. This allows the two environments to work together, enabling file sharing, remote desktop access, and the use of Linux-based software directly from the RISC OS desktop. The unit also supports Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet, allowing independent internet access or integration into a wider network without interfering with RISC OS connectivity. Power is supplied directly from the host system’s motherboard, eliminating the need for additional cables or an external power brick. The ECOS 5 operates as a completely independent computer within the case, running continuously in parallel with RISC OS.
