Enhanced Performance and Connectivity in a DIY RISC OS Kit The DIY THREE is a self-assembly RISC OS computer kit designed to provide higher performance and expanded connectivity in a compact, maintainable form. It is supplied with all essential components apart from the power supply, and assembly requires only basic tools. The kit includes a laser-cut oak-veneered MDF case, delivered untreated and with protective film, a Raspberry Pi Compute Module with heatsink, a model-specific carrier board, a 256 GB NVMe drive, a 32 GB eMMC module, and all required mounting hardware including brass standoffs, spacers, screws, and washers. The assembly process follows a clear sequence. Protective film is removed from the case panels before fitting thermal pads to the Compute Module and securing the heatsink. The module is mounted on the carrier board, the NVMe drive is installed and fixed in place, and the eMMC module is connected. The board is then mounted inside the case using standoffs, with side and end panels fitted and secured, followed by the top cover. The top cover can be removed for access to internal components when required. The DIY THREE provides two USB ports with provision for two additional front USB connections, dual HDMI outputs, Gigabit Ethernet, a 12 V barrel connector for power, and a micro-USB for programming. It uses a 2 GHz–2.2 GHz CPU with 4 GB of RAM, and incorporates 256 GB of NVMe storage for data and applications alongside a 32 GB eMMC module for the operating system. The case footprint is approximately 190 mm × 105 mm. The modular case design allows for straightforward upgrades or maintenance without specialist tools. Technical Specification Processor Speed: overclocked up to 2GHz Memory: 4GB SSD Storage: 256GB NVMe storage for RISC OS as standard Networking: Gigabit Ethernet port and integrated WIFI option USB ports: 2 rear, optional 2 extra ports via header Audio/Video: Audio over HDMI Twin full sized HDMI ports Up to 3840x2160 HDMI graphics eMMC: 32GB for OS, boot and storage OS and Software: RISC OS 5 plus over 2GB of RISC OS Software as standard Case: Veneered unfinished oak slices - 140mm x 120mm x 30mm Power and activity indicator LED Options: Commercial software pack (worth over £500) 8GB RAM upgrade from 4GB 1TB NVMe upgrade from 256GB Active cooling
